SONY VAIO SAG12X
If you are looking for a thin, slick and efficient laptop like MacBook Air, but is not MacBook Air, then check out the new Sony Vaio SAG12X. The new laptop is considered to be the thinnest and one of the best Windows based High end laptop. The laptop has a beautiful yet slick silvery body, which is mostly made up of magnesium alloy. The display is perfect and so is the keyboard. The machine has a 2nd generation i5 processor at its heart’s core. The price is a bit higher than average, which most people won’t like, starting from $899 and reaching up to $2000.
The New Vaio series laptop is both liked and criticized for its body. The laptop’s body is quite durable and glossy, which makes it look attractive from distance, but as we take a closer look, the laptop starts to give a feeling of being from the 80’s. The body had odd lined curves that give it an edgy look and that is the only reason it’s been criticized.
The laptop weighs around 3.5 pound, which is considered to be light, despite having an optical drive. The maximum thickness of the machine reaches up to 1 inch. The upper lid is extremely thin, despite accommodating a brilliant shiny screen. The screen gives sharp images and vibrant colours at the resolution of 1600x 900, with good readable text support as well. The keyboard is quite roomy and has all the keys separated and protrude from the body, giving it the famous island style. The touchpad is big enough and there is good amount for palm rest provided as well. There is a small finger scan sensor for authentication, right in between the two tactile buttons. The only drawback of the body, other than its old looks, is that the thin upper lid is quite flex and starts flapping at a slightest movement.
Though light from the outside, this Vaio S laptop is quite strong from the inside. With a 2nd Generation i3/i5/i7 processors and the RAM of 4 GB that could be upgraded to 8 GB, the laptop feels like a power packed machine. There is a 5,400 rpm, 500 GB Hard Disk and a dedicated ATI Radeon graphics card. The ATI Radeon 6300M, though not as good as GeForce, could play almost anything you through at, because of the sheer backup support of the processor and the memory. The laptop would not be able to ease the thirst of real gamers, but people who like to play games for fun, irrespective of minor lags, could enjoy a lot.
Other specifications include a Blu-ray optical drive, 1 USB 3.0 and 2 USB 2.0 ports and pre-installed Windows 7 (64-bit). Connectivity options include Ethernet 802.11, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, as well as3G option. The machine is powered by an integrated 4,400 mAh battery, able could give 7 hour normal and 4 hours video play backup.
Eventually, the Sony Vaio SAG12X, even with its 80’s look and flapping lid, is one of the best 13-inch category laptop, which is no doubt very strong from the inside and could be considered a smart buy in average $1200.
